Architect Your Exit

Privacy — if you've received a letter from us

This notice applies if you have received a letter from Positive Returns Limited, trading as Architect Your Exit, introducing our exit-readiness advisory services. It explains where your details came from and what we did with them. It is separate from, and more detailed than, the general privacy notice for visitors to this website, because the two describe different things: that notice covers people who use our tools or email us directly; this one covers people we have written to first.

Who we are

Positive Returns Limited (company number 05263054), registered office Kings Parade, Lower Coombe Street, Croydon, Surrey, CR0 1AA, trading as Architect Your Exit, is the controller of your personal data for the purposes described here. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office, registration number ZC229287.

How we got your details

We identified your company from the public register maintained by Companies House. That register is where your name, your appointment as a director, your company's incorporation date and its filing history are published. We did not obtain anything about you from any other source — not from data brokers, purchased lists, LinkedIn or any other platform, and not from anyone you know. We verified a business address and, where needed, a business telephone number against your company's own website or a public business directory, or by a short factual call to confirm a postal address.

What we did with it

We created an internal record containing your name, your appointment details as filed, and a small number of observable facts drawn from your company's public filings — the kind of thing an interested outside party could establish from the register alone. We used this to form a view on whether an exit-readiness conversation was likely to be relevant to you, and to decide whether to write to you once. That letter is the only outcome of this processing that reaches you.

What we did not do

We do not hold or use any special category data about you (Article 9 UK GDPR — health, and the other categories in that list) or any criminal offence data (Article 10). We do not use anything Companies House has suppressed. We do not sell, share, or pass your details to any third party. No automated system decided to write to you: a person read your record and the letter before it was sent, and a person will read any reply.

Our lawful basis

We rely on our legitimate interests in identifying prospective clients for our advisory services (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR). Before writing to anyone, we assess that interest against the rights and interests of the person concerned, and record that assessment in a Legitimate Interests Assessment. You may ask us for a copy.

How long we keep it

We keep your record for up to twelve months from the date we checked the public register, and then delete it, unless you become a client, in which case ordinary client-file retention rules apply instead. If you ask us to stop contacting you, we delete your record immediately and keep only what's needed to make sure we never approach you again.

Your rights

You have the right to ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, to have anything inaccurate corrected, to have your data deleted, and to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk if you're unhappy with how we've handled your information.

Your right to object — the most important one. You can tell us at any time to stop, and we will, without you needing to give a reason. We will delete your record and add your company to a permanent list so that you are never approached again. In any event, we approach a company at most twice — one letter and, at most, one follow-up — before we stop and suppress it regardless of any reply.

How to exercise any of this

Email hello@architectyourexit.co.uk, or write to us at the registered office address above. We aim to act on an objection within five working days.

Complaints

You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, by phone on 0303 123 1113, or by post at Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF.

We review this notice at least once a year, alongside the assessment it describes. Last updated: September 2026.
